Black Bolt Boot Camps utilize project-based learning to teach the skills of web design. Upon entering a camp, participants must have a project in mind. Be it a new website for their small business, a personal website for those looking to boost their earning potential, or a blog for those looking to up their internet presence.
Participants of a Black Bolt Boot Camp will walk away with a foundation in the languages that power the web. These skills can be applied to almost any industry or field or even furthered in order to a pursue a career in web development.
A: Not at all! We'll teach you everything you need to know. But we do ask that participants should be technically capable. If you struggle with certain websites or desktop programs, then this workshop probably isn't right for you.
A: Unless otherwise mentioned, we require all participants to bring their own laptops to workshops. Due to the project-based nature of the boot camp, participants must be able work on their websites outside of class.
A: Currently, Stefan Kwiecinski and Ted Klingenberg, two undergraduate computer science majors from Morehead State University. If you have any questions on their skills in web design, browse this site or their linked personal sites and you'll get a gist of their capabilities.
A: The cost per individual ranges depending on who we partner with to offer the workshop. Some organizations subsidize it to meet the budgets of their target participants while others charge full price. Check the pricing on the workshop's respective page to see how much it would cost for you. As for software costs, there are none. However, if you'd like for your website to be globally accessible for all to see. (i.e. your own .com) we'll have to help you get set up with a hosting provider for about $50 a year.
A: Black Bolt Boot Camps are designed to be intensive in effort and time investment while still making time for other committments outside of the program. In-class time consists of 1-2 days a week of 1-3 instructional hours each. You should also expect to invest an additional 1-4 hours a week working on projects out of class.
A: No. The only things participants leave with is a foundation in web design and a new website.
